A world-renowned provider of underwater acoustic, inertial, optical and sonar technology are looking for experienced Transducer Design & Acoustic Engineers to design and develop underwater acoustic transducers on a permanent basis. Located in Fleet, the company offers a very competitive salary, 25 days holiday and a fantastic benefits package.

You will be responsible to design and manage the development of underwater acoustic transducers to internal and external customer driven specifications from concept through to pre-production. You will take full ownership for the planning, execution and reporting of transducer testing activities.

You will work with a vast array of customers, from offshore oil and gas, to maritime security and oceanographic research. There is occasionally travel involved with the role to UK suppliers and customers, other company sites for product development and to trial facilities.

Key Responsibilities
-To assume technical design responsibility for all transducer development
-To develop and document design procedures and rules so as to protect and document company knowledge
-To develop and maintain knowledge of the latest techniques in subsea acoustic transducer design, analysis and manufacture and to distribute the latest technological advances to relevant engineers.
-Promote new enabling technologies, innovative design concepts and methods for developing transducers with particular emphasis on polyurethane technologies, wideband transducer design and 1-3 composites

Essential Skills
-Educated to MSc in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or similar
-Thorough understanding of acoustic design theory, materials and application
-Experience of Matlab, MathCAD or similar for transducer performance modelling
-Proven experience in design, prototype, test and validation of underwater acoustic transducers
-Proven experience in transducer characterisation beam patterns, beam width, cross talk, etc
-Hands on experience of transducer assembly to include bonding, soldering and encapsulation

Desired Skills
-Broad range of transducer design experience ranging from low frequency (kHz) to Ultrasonic (MHz)
-Technical report writing skills
-PhD would be advantageous
