The Role

The successful Principle Scientist (Food Allergens) will deliver advice, training, events and research in the area of food allergens in the Biochemistry section providing an efficient, high quality service to clients.
You will liaise with clients in the area of food allergens, including answering technical enquiries.
You will deliver external and internal training courses on food allergens, liaison with staff from other sections and departments.
You will be responsible for the development of new business in the area of food allergens.
You will be responsible for the writing of procedures, methods and work instructions relating to food allergen testing and other general activities undertaken in the Biochemistry Section while maintaining up to date knowledge of scientific and technical issues concerning food allergen testing.
You will manage research projects in the area of food allergens including financial management
You will have a PhD/Degree/ or professional qualification in a relevant area of science & technology and at least 3 years` experience of food allergen management controls and testing specifically using ELISA, DNA based or mass spectrometry techniques.
You will have a working knowledge and experience of Quality Management systems such as ISO9000 and particularly ISO17025
Also experience of project and resource management, verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-specialist audiences, be proficient in use of WORD, Excel, Powerpoint and LIMS databases and have the ability to manage a small team.
