Senior Systems Engineer
Horley

Senior Systems Engineer needed for a successful and growing Defence Organisation based in Horley who are looking to employ an experienced Senior Systems with an in-depth knowledge of system design with recent exposure to the Defence industry.

What the role entails: As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the successful technical delivery of engineering projects and will work in partnership with the Technical Director, programme managers and design engineers. You will be expected to support electronics, software, mechanical and networked computing systems used in military environments (Land, Sea and Air).

Some of the main duties of the Senior Systems Engineer will include:

• Initial capture & management of the system / subsystem requirements
• Development of system / sub-system architectures
• Preparation of specifications and Interface Control Documents
• Preparation of test and acceptance plans and procedures
• Support integration and trials of equipment and systems into platforms
• Contributing to Safety and Airworthiness Certification of products
• Liaison with customers, equipment suppliers & subcontractors associated with a programme
• Use and development/improvement of state-of-the-art Systems Engineering tools & methodology
• Briefing Project Managers on design progress, technical approach and issues
• Providing technical consultancy internally and externally to the business and authoring briefing notes and technical reports

In order to be the successful Senior Systems Engineer and have a chance to gain such an exciting opportunity you will ideally need to have the following:

• Degree in a relevant subject
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in product or system design, with a recent focus on systems engineering in a UK defence environment
• Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills
• Technical leadership and decision making – experience as Design Authority
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Familiarity with UK Defence Standards (or equivalent) for environmental, EMC and safety

Experience of at least three of the following:

• Military Communications (Land, Sea, Air)
• Communications Security
• Tactical Data Links
• Electronic Warfare (Comms and / or RADAR ESM)
• Electronic countermeasures (e.g. C-IED systems)
• Military computer networks (OSI Models, TCP/IP, routing)
• Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems
• Command and Control Systems
• Small UAS and Counter-UAS systems

Must be eligible for Security Clearance!
