A primary school based in Tameside with a specialist Hearing Impairment Unit, require a BSL Level 1 Teaching Assistant. Your role will include working with a young person within Key Stage 1 and you will be required to assist teachers to support the learning, educational progress and inclusion of the pupil with a hearing impairment, with the aim of narrowing any attainment gap they may have.

This is to encourage the young person so they can access the curriculum, participate in learning, experience a sense of achievement and develop independence in learning and other aspects of school life. The school are looking for someone who can carry out the following responsibilities:

* To work in partnership with the teacher to help adapt planning or resources so it is accessible by the child you will be supporting.
* You will be communicating between spoken English and British Sign Language
* Translate written documents into signed versions or what the pupil is signing into writing.
* Voice over what a deaf pupil is saying if their speech is difficult to understand.
* Providing support as agreed with the teacher (and Teacher of the Deaf). This may include pre-tutoring support to ensure pupils have the necessary knowledge and familiarity with the vocabulary and concepts used in the lesson.
* Post-tutoring to check understanding, and reinforce key learning points.
