Project Planner - Highways

Location: Bristol

Salary: circa �60,000 dependant on experience

The Company

This project is based with a leading main contractor with a turn over just shy of �3billion. They operate with three distinct business areas Housebuilding, Regeneration, and Construction & Infrastructure. Their infrastructure department is made up of several business units including Highways, Rail & Aviation, Water & Waste, Environment, and Power & Security. This project is based within Highways, working on a junction improvement on a motorway near Bristol.

Due to recent success they are looking to add to their team in the South West. As Project Planner you will work within the site office developing programmes and driving them to its completion. This is an opportunity for you to work with a top tier contractor with a plenty of work for you to get your teeth into!

The Role

Your responsibilities as Project Planner include updating the Pre-Construction Schedule ensuring you provide a robust schedule that outlines key project milestones. You'll also have to cost load the schedule, generating Earned Value Analysis, using this information to update the schedule on a monthly basis. You'll be proactive when issues arise that affect the programme of works, amending the schedule to be as realistic as possible.

This junction improvement sits within their well-established Highways division and will involve the upgrading of a junction, including two bridges and a roundabout. This scheme will improve the local infrastructure and road network in the South West, connecting the local road networks relieving traffic for the local infrastructure.

Ideal Candidate

As Project Planner you will have a technical understanding of programmes and be effective and efficient using Primavera P6 Planning software. You'll also be able to scrutinise designs, having this technical understanding will mean you can add value to the programmes, ensuring possible issues are spotted early on!


The requirements for Project Planner include carrying a HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline . You will possess a solid track record in civil engineering schemes such as highways or rail projects. You will also be flexible to work both on site and in the head office, working on the current project and future packages of works.

Salary and benefits

* Salary is circa �60,000 dependant on experience. The package is 28 days holiday, car or car allowance, healthcare, and pension.
