The company
Our client is a reputable boarding school with outstanding facilities and a rating of excellent in there last Education Quality Inspection.

The Role
You will share responsibility for welfare and wellbeing of 25 Sixth Form pupils and assisting the houseparent in the smooth running of the house.

You will be expected to:
- Be a listening ear for the girls and to share concerns appropriately.
- Work in communication with the Houseparent on pastoral issues.
- Supervise girls in their daily routines in the house and school.
- Administer basic medication (appropriate induction and support will be given) and ensure medical records are up to date.
- Carry out and record registrations, following up and reporting absence as required.
- Be responsible for the cleanliness, tidiness and good order of the House throughout the term, drawing up cleaning rota for girls and ensuring that duties are carried out.
- Check girls` general appearance and clothing in conjunction with the School`s Uniform Policy.
- Assist with the preparation of the School for holiday activities and lettings at the end of terms (when required).
- Help prepare the House so that it is ready for the beginning of term. This involves returning to school at least one day before the start of term and staying for a day at the end of term.
- Carry out administrative and other tasks as allocated by the Houseparent with the agreement of the Deputy Head Pastoral.
- Carry out meal duties as required by the Boarding Assistants` and weekend rota.
- Attend weekly Boarding Assistant meetings and other pastoral meetings as necessary.
- Assist with escorting girls (Dental/Medical appointments) as required.
- Support the weekend programme.
- Be responsible for the House when the Houseparent is off duty.
- Be involved in school wide duties and administrative tasks.
- Be on duty approximately every other weekend, as required by the duty rota.
- Assist the Houseparent weekly with collating the girls` weekend arrangements.
- Liaise with parents/guardians as necessary.
- Put together a termly House newsletter with assistance from the girls.
- Put together a treat night programme for weekly and weekend evenings.

You will receive year round free accommodation, free meals during term time, paid school holidays and use of school facilities.

This is a full time position, working term time only.

Essential Requirements
- Educated to at least A level or GNVQ.
- A keen interest in pastoral care, teaching or education.
- Good communication skills.
- Good team worker.
- Stamina, good sense of humour, resilience and a sense of loyalty to the school.
- An awareness of Health and Safety.
- Flexible and responsible approach to work as this role demands.
- IT skills.
- Experience in the care of children or young people.
- Sensitivity to, and interest in, adolescent girl welfare.
- Willingness to undertake post related training.
- Experience of working in a boarding environment or other residential care would be an advantage.

You will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Check.
