CAD Engineer

Location : London

Day Rate: �250-350 per day

Contract Length: 3-6 months

Project: Highways Project

SUMMARY

Work with engineering professionals at the concept, design and construction stages to develop effective solutions which meet project objectives, by using technical ability and CAD software to help identify potential solutions or problems. When a solution is chosen, to interpret engineering information / designs to produce clear drawings / construction information suitable for planning, marketing, record or construction of civil engineering elements.

KEY OBJECTIVES

* Be a key member of the CAD team as part of a design group specialising in highways and roads
* Provide a CAD service to our customers that excels by delivering first class service delivery
* Prepare complex drawings for engineering projects
* Promote and achieve Perfect Delivery throughout the team

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Work closely with the design teams to deliver safe, efficient and buildable solutions.
* Ensure that all designs are prepared in line with current health and safety applicable legislation and standards and compliant with CDM requirements
* Be responsible for the production new and development of existing drawings in accordance with both company and client standards and procedures
* Able to produce a range of Civil Engineering drawings including reinforced concrete detailing, structural steelwork, site layouts, sequence drawings, geotechnical drawings, long sections & tunnel alignment drawings as requested by customers or managers.
* Provide a point of contact for the location and provision of existing drawings
* Maintain communication with contractors, customers, engineers and the general public for any architectural, engineering or construction issues
* Maintain up to date working and technical knowledge of all procedural and improvement changes to computer hardware and software applications
* Receipt and logging of drawings and information from outside organisations
* Perform CAD drawing and system checks on fellow colleagues work providing feedback on errors / weak spots to allow others to grow and improve
* Follow the guide lines as set out in the CAD standards manual and offering continual development suggestions on improvements to the system
* Support and manage the workload of junior members of the CAD Team giving training and advice to help develop their potential
* Support the senior members of the CAD Team in the performance of their role and report to management team to ensure that resource requirements are utilised efficiently.
* Identify measures of system performance and the improvement actions needed
* Ability to work extended hours on occasions when required

QUALIFICATION

* Good standard of education AutoCAD Certification

EXPERIENCE

* Knowledge of CAD systems and standards
* Experience in the Highways Sector
* Experience with civil AutoCAD drawing production
* Experience of using Microstation
* Competent user of Microsoft Word, and Excel
* Knowledge of company design procedures
* Experience of working within a civil engineering contractor preferred
* Familiarity with civil engineering methods of construction
* Skill in updating, maintaining, operating and evaluating all AutoCAD software and related equipment
* Ability to operate, access, and maintain diverse software applications
* Good team working and developing working relationships quickly and effectively
* Capable of working to tight project time scales whilst paying attention to detail
* Ability to deliver projects within timescale and act comfortably under pressure
