Are you a Mechanical Rolling Stock Engineer, looking to be part of an exciting new project?


This forward-thinking Organisation is bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the Rolling Stock sector, by developing systems and designs that would make use of emerging technologies to benefit passengers, the environment and the wider rail industry, as well as produce low cost, low maintenance rolling stock!

They have secured several new projects across the UK, and are now looking to grow their team further

You'll be an experienced Rolling Stock Mechanical Engineer, with further understanding of Rolling Stock systems. You will have the ability to safely undertake electrical engineering activities to accomplish their successful completion to time, to budget and to the necessary standards. Determine requirements and implement solutions to satisfy customer demands and win future business.


You will be working with customers to understand their requirements and be able to design solutions for the rolling stock. You will be designing and working with mechanical systems and components as applicable to railway rolling stock, e.g. diesel engines, bogies, brake systems, gangways, door systems, couplers, toilets, carbodies, and underframe equipment. You'll have sound knowledge and experience of power, traction and braking systems as applicable to railway rolling stock. You will also have the ability to understand structural requirements for attaching equipment to rail vehicles and how to determine the relevant loadcases to apply. You will also be required to write Technical Requirement Specifications, Test Specifications and Test Procedures.


* Engineering degree (with Mechanical bias), or equivalent qualification(s).

* Chartered Engineer (IMechE), or actively working towards it.

* Experience of mechanical systems and components in a railway environment.

* Experience of electro-pneumatic systems would be an advantage.

* Thorough working knowledge of Railway Group Standards and railway practice in general.

* Experience of writing Work Instructions.


* Salary is between �50,000 to �60,000 per annum depending on experience
