Head of Noise Assessment needed for a permanent position in Birmingham working for HS2

Salary:
�63,000 - �79,000

You will provide the strategic technical direction on noise for all phases of the project,
Providing leadership to the supply chain as well as ensuring project outcomes and timescales are met with value for money
You will line manage between 1-2 direct reports within your team. The role will include working with a wide range of stakeholders including government decision and policy makers and those impacted by the project.

About the role:
Lead the implementation of environmental noise requirements and support the development of procedures and processes as appropriate to ensure environmental noise requirements are clearly defined and well understood.
Provide technical assessment review and assurance for the hybrid bills and associated tasks, including Environment Statements, Petitioner responses and Parliamentary Queries.
Work with Phase One and Phase Two in providing support and specialist noise and vibration leadership.
Participate in the Environment team’s wider objectives and work closely with them to achieve noise objectives.
Provide technical assessment and review to assure that deliverables meet the project’s environmental acoustics requirements.
Engage pro-actively with stakeholders and statutory bodies.

About You:
Ability to technically assess and review acoustic deliverables submitted by contractors;
Be able to review parliamentary submissions as part of the hybrid Bill & petitioning process;
Support the Noise Technical Expert Witness with preparing exhibits and petitioner responses;
The ability to provide technical responses to Parliamentary Questions and Freedom of Information requests
Experience of assessment and management of noise and vibration issues (ground borne and airborne) associated with a major construction project;
Experience in application of noise and vibration control methods for the construction and operation of a railway;
Experience of working with a team of acoustics professionals including relevant experience related to the role, including but not limited to working within a team, contractors and consultants;
Experience of managing teams within complex and medium to high risk projects;
Corporate memberships with the Institute of Acoustics Knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, technical guidance, industry standards and best practice in relation to noise and vibration matters.
