Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a SEND provision in Middlesbrough who are seeking a teaching assistant on a full time basis, to commence after the February half term working with students with Autism.

The role will involve working on a 1:1 basis with pupils aged 11-16 who have Autism of varying severities, the students are in need of extra support and guidance primarily with their English, Maths and Science; however some support may be needed for some students across other elements of the curriculum. The main aspect of the role will be helping the children to engage with their learning, and encouraging personal and social development whilst managing challenging behaviour in lesson time. You will be expected to monitor children’s academic and personal progress within lessons, and you will have regular meetings with the class teacher to discuss this.

Ideally, the candidate will have experience working with Autism; however the client school welcomes candidates with backgrounds in education, youth/social work, counselling and graduates. You will be passionate about improving the lives of young people and have a strong desire to work with SEND.
