Graduate teaching assistant – Manchester – full time position starting ASAP.

Are you in the process of applying for teacher training or have a placed secured for September? Or have you graduated university and want to work in a secondary school before committing to the profession?

Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a school close to central Manchester for 2 graduate teaching assistants starting immediately on a full time basis. Your role as a teaching assistant will require you to support teachers in lessons, ensuring behaviour and disruption is kept to a minimum and lessons flow to achieve objectives. You may also be required to lead small groups with areas of the curriculum they require extra support, in addition to working on a 1:1 basis to improve pupil confidence and understanding of the lesson. Previous experience as a teaching assistant is desirable but not essential, if you have supported secondary aged pupils previously in another capacity this would be considered. Situated just north of Manchester city centre in a diverse and multi-cultural area , this is a large mixed secondary school with state of the art facilities. Due to restructuring and additional funding, the Head of school is looking to appoint 2 graduate teaching assistants on a full time basis as soon as possible. You will report to the schools SENCO and have a particular focus on improving attainment and pupil understanding within the three core subjects (English/Maths/Science) so a degree in those subjects is desirable, however not essential.
