Job IntroductionSkipton Building Society has an exciting new opportunity in our Group Pensions Team.   Reporting to the Pensions Manager, the role is responsible for overseeing the management and running of the retirement and life assurance benefit provision of the Skipton Building Society Group.If you have a combination of expert technical knowledge and great people skills, we can offer you the chance to build an exciting career full of opportunity, reward, growth and achievement. As a Pensions Consultant, we’ll look to you to provide technical expertise and guidance on pension scheme management and secretariat, education and communication across the Skipton Group.  The Society operates a Group Personal Pension Plan for current colleagues and sponsors three funded legacy defined benefit arrangements. Main ResponsibilitiesSupport with the Group’s pensions strategy and operational objectives Provide Secretariat duties and governance oversight to the DB corporate Trustee and the DC Governance Working Group  Prepare reports and data for presentation at quarterly trustee meetingsManage relationships and provide technical support to stakeholders to ensure a joined up approach in the delivery of the Group’s and Trustee’s objectives.Assist with the setting of annual budgets and manage Trustee and Employer budgets, challengingsuppliers as appropriate Assist with the suitability of the Society’s pension provision for colleagues, delivering workshops and developing strategies to promote the benefits and raise awareness of the DC schemeKeep up to date with technical updates and pensions developmentsIdeal CandidateWe are looking for a self-motivated, flexible and well organised individual with excellent communication and presentation skills who is able to manage a diverse range of activities at the same time.  The ideal candidate will be resilient and have technical knowledge of all types of UK retirement provision, an awareness of UK pensions legislation and emerging trends, and the ability to communicate this both to other colleagues and to the pension professionals they will interact with.
