Engineering Technician

This opportunity has just come in to join a team of great engineering lecturers and support them in the running of the department. This will be a varied role to include student interaction, equipment maintenance and supplies ordering.

The engineering technician post offers 22.5 hours per week across Monday to Friday however the hours are flexible. The successful applicant will be able to work closely with colleagues to ensure a safe working & learning environment, ensuring that equipment is kept in good order and all maintenance checks are performed in a timely manner. You will also ensure that a stock of supplies are kept at the required level and that all materials orders are placed correctly and on time. The role will also involve supporting the teaching team in setting up equipment in the learning environment.

Good people skills are sought from the successful applicant and the ability to collaborate both with learners and colleagues is key to be successful in this role.

The working environment is a modern, purpose built environment with state of the art machinery and facilities. Equipment includes lathes, CNC milling machines, laser printers and 3D printers as well as other equipment.

The ideal candidate for this engineering technician post will:

* have a strong background in (mechanical) engineering
* be good at record keeping
* be flexible and willing to be a team player
* be patient and able to relate to learners and impart their knowledge
* have good workshop knowledge & skills
