Manufacturing Engineering Manager

We are a global leader in the development and supply of cable and pipe locators and other test/inspection equipment used by utility companies to help install, protect and maintain their infrastructure networks. We are currently seeking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our Operations team in Bristol.
The role will supervise and assist operating activities of a production unit and subcontractors, aiming at optimum efficiency, especially in the area of electrical / electronic test, while producing goods to quality standards and within budget. In addition, incumbent will coordinate and manage project teams, especially in the area of NPI.
Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager:
* Manage production engineering team
* Ensure adherence to plant and equipment maintenance requirements
* Manage projects, project teams and contracted services within approved budgets, plans and performance criteria
* Work closely with design engineering team to plan, develop and deliver new products and system tests
* Develop manufacturing plans and maintain production capability, quality control, safety and cost standards
* Develop and make recommendations regarding improved operational procedures
* Manage and coordinate recruitment, training and staff development
* Prepare budget, operating cost and reports
* Foster a quality-oriented environment among staff
Requirements of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager:
* Extensive experience of manufacturing environment with high mix and low volume electromechanical assembly
* Engineering discipline qualification preferred
* High degree of commercial awareness
* Demonstrated experience in project management and administration
* Broad manufacturing and engineering experience
* Effective planning and organisational skills
* Demonstrated budgetary and financial management skills
* Effective communication skills
* Effective leadership and motivational skills
* Demonstrated experience in quality continuous improvement strategy development and implementation e.g. Six Sigma or LEAN
* Sound analytical and problem solving skills
* Knowledge of quality control policies, procedures and options
* High degree of Electro and Electromechanical experience and expertise
* High degree of computer literacy, including understanding of MRP systems
