Independent Reviewing Officers - Full & Part Time Posts - London

Salary: £41,820 - £49,200 a year

Full Time (36 Hours) - Permanent Post

Part Time (18 Hours) - Permanent Post

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a key quality assurance role. You will need to advocate and champion our clients Child Care Scheme and ensure care planning promotes early permanence planning. You will need to be skilled in engaging and supporting the participation of children in the review and planning process.

As an IRO you are crucial in ensuring that voices are at the core of our clients work as corporate parents; ensuring children have opportunities to fully participate in making decisions with other agencies and their Social Worker. You will need to be proactive in promoting the physical health, emotional well-being and education of all children in the scheme.

To be able to do this role effectively you will need to have extensive experience post qualified and the following:

A thorough working knowledge of the legal framework relating to the Children Act 1989, the Care Planning Regulations and the duties and responsibilities of the IRO as set out in the IRO Handbook (DfE 2010);
Experience as a Social Worker and preferably with leadership and management experience at Assistant Team Manager level or above;
Having the experience to effectively challenge to ensure best outcomes for children, including escalation, as required to Senior Managers;
Regularly contributing to divisional, service and team meetings by delivering training and strengthening our partnership working;
To promote best practice and raise standards across Children Services;
Ensure that Early Permanence is achieved for our Children and is timely;
