Working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Occasional Saturday)

We are looking to recruit a Compost Facility Mobile Plant Operative based at our Walpole Site in Bridgwater to carry out a variety of machine operating duties relating to the production of compost from green waste and associated activities. The purpose of the role is to operate and maintain mobile and static machinery and assist in the safe and efficient operation of the plant as instructed by the Compost Manager and Compost Charge Hand.

A principle responsibility is to safely and competently conduct routine maintenance and cleaning and litter picking to remove contaminants from incoming waste.

We are looking for a strong flexible team player who can also work well individually. Carrying out a variety of manual and machine operating duties, including the handling of waste delivered to site as well as the loading and dispatch of compost product offsite.

Mobile Plant Operative Duties include, but not limited to:

- Carry out traffic control for site users
- Maintaining general tidiness and cleanliness to the work area and welfare facilities
- Ensure that the delivery of waste is conducted in compliance with the site permit and company procedures
- Report on unplanned events or any problems to the Compost Change Hand or Compost Manager.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with the Environmental Management System and Site Operational Systems.

The ideal Mobile Plant Operative Skills / Experience:

- Mobile plant operations, maintenance and daily checks
- Plant operating skills for the main plant routinely used at the site - telescopic handler, wheeled loading shovel, shredders, screeners and wind-sifter
- Experience of driving mobile plant
- CPCS Qualification or equivalent
- Ability to effectively carry out instructions
- Mechanical knowledge of plant electrics & hydraulics
- A Full Driving Licence is essential to the role
