Partnering with the Regional Investment Programme Team (RIP Team) you will provide an interface on all commercial matters acting as an integral part of the RIP leadership team, excellent stakeholder engagement skills are a must and so you will be required to travel to the clients other offices to partner with project teams effectively.

As an industry expert you will lend your expertise by identifying needs, understanding priorities and potential threats to the success of the region, and defining mitigation in order to better support the delivery of projects transforming the road network across England.

The role would suit an effective people manager who will develop strong relationships with the team and wider operations. As a Commercial Team Leader you will also have the opportunity to influence the shape of your team as well as developing and encouraging team members to flourish.

What you’ll be leading on

* Protecting the client’s commercial interests within a Major Projects capital programme region.
* Leading and developing a regional team to deliver challenging targets and a consistent and high quality approach to commercial and procurement strategy, investment decisions, scheme budget management, commercial management, contract administration, commercial dispute management and commercial performance management.
* Analysing, and providing management information and reports to identify trends and address issues proactively. Coach and support regional programme and project managers/sponsors and their teams on the application and interpretation of commercial issues.
* Advocating the clients Wellbeing, Health and Safety Strategy and continually improving wellbeing, health and safety performance ensuring effective practice is applied by staff and partners.
* Promoting the clients reputation through building visible and effective partnerships within the region.
* Leading the planning and implementing of commercial change as part of the programme and encourage innovation, empowering and inspiring continuous improvement.

To be successful

* You will have proven experience of leading and managing a commercial team, with the capability to assemble, lead and motivate a diverse, inclusive, high performing team.
* You will have significant knowledge of NEC forms of contract. Experience of tendering and procurement using NEC forms of contract.
* Involvement in determining cost drivers for cost comparison in an infrastructure environment and experience of using cost capture, analysis and interpretation into intelligence to drive continuous improvement in efficiencies across all project control stages.
* Proven ability to contribute to and communicate regional, programme and organisational aims to align effort with a programmatic vision.
* Capacity to absorb diverse information and use strong practical influencing skills, both internally and externally to optimise the client’s commercial regional interests.
* Professional qualified, RICS, ICE or equivalent
