Our client secondary school is looking to recruit a SEN teaching assistant who is experienced in supporting students with challenging behaviour. The school has a specific male student who is at risk of exclusion and looking for a teaching assistant that can work with them as a role model and build a relationship to get them re-engaged with school life. Any prior experience supporting as a youth worker or working with challenging behaviour will be beneficial.
The successful SEN teaching assistant will be working on a 1 to 1 basis with the specific year 7 student working with them in re-integrating into mainstream classes and working together closely. The student is an avid football fan who has had multiple exclusions thus far within his first term of school. The male student exhibits challenging behaviour relating to ADHD and ODD.
Working with this individual student is greatly rewarding and would suit someone looking for work within a secondary school environment that is able to build a relationship with the student over time.
The school requires the successful SEN teaching assistant to start with them as soon as possible initially for 1 day per week but if things work out well in the first week or 2, progressing to a more full time position.
