Due to continued success and growth, we are now looking to recruit a General Manager (Operations) to join the business in Rochester.

General Operations Manager Role:

As our General Manager (Operations), you will operate as one of the most senior direct reports within VRM and therefore will require a strong capacity both at a strategic and tactical level. Driving efficiencies, engagement and process improvements through strong leadership of the Shipping, Tickets, Documentation and Supply Optimisation teams. Duties include:

- Managing and controlling shipping rates and transport costs
- Maximising the efficiency of the Supply Optimisation Unit
- Manage key risk areas within VRM, particularly surrounding shipping and documentation
- Performing through others and ensuring they maximise their time using effective time management techniques
- Drive high standards of employee engagement, encouraging them to participate in employee surveys, creating local engagement plans and creating an environment of improved top down and bottom up communication
- Carry out annual and timely Performance Appraisal Reviews (PAR's) of all direct reports.
- Deputising for the Managing Director of VRM at Viridor meetings and leading senior team meetings, in particular a regular office Managers meeting, to ensure streamlined communication within VRM.
- Provide weekly updates to Managing Director of all costs including shipping rates in a coherent and presentable format
- Ensuring all filing systems are up to date and documents are controlled in line with internal standards.

Our ideal General Manager (Operations) will have:

- Ideally Logistics, Transport and Shipping experience
- Presentation design and delivery skills
- Strong collaboration experience internally and externally
- Strong evidence of resourcefulness
- Ability to manage high work volumes
- Shipping experience (minimum 3 years)
- Logistics & or Transport experience (minimum 3 years)
- Experience of Managing team performance
- Ability to travel and stay overnight for team meetings and Viridor meetings sometimes at short notice
- 5 x GCSE's or equivalent in English and Maths
- Driving licence

In return for your hard work as our General Manager (Operations), we can offer a competitive salary of £60,000 plus excellent benefits, including pension, healthcare and a range of other benefits. The successful candidate should be able to join the business on 1st April 2019
