Port Agent

Location: Fawley, SO45 1TX

Salary: Competitive

Hours of Work: 2 shifts back to back - from 06:00 to 18:00 with minimum rest break 30 mins, 2 shifts back to back - from 18:00 to 06:00 with minimum rest break 30 mins, 4 consecutive days off - this pattern is completed 5 times and then the employee has 14 consecutive days off (part of annual leave allowance)

About the Company:

Inchcape Shipping Services provides global strategic maritime, cargo and supply chain solutions to ship-owners and operators who span all geographies, market segments, vessels and asset types.

Reporting to the Port Manager, the role holder will be responsible for providing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on-call service to our Principals to ensure the safe and smooth turnaround of all appointed vessels within the jurisdiction of the port office, managing vessel requirements, booking relevant services and undertaking vessel boarding as required. The Port Agent will be required to issue all relevant shipping documentation and perform any other tasks that relate to the job.

Port Agent Responsibilities:

* Ensure excellent ships agency services are rendered to all customers
* Ensure a smooth, quick turnaround of vessels, keeping all relevant parties advised at all times
* Board vessels as/where required
* Ensure all items/requirements are promptly ordered/confirmed
* Liaise with clients and port services on a daily basis
* Attend regular meetings with ports, terminal and suppliers
* Ensure all shipping documentation is issued on time and accurately
* Full utilisation of YourISS 2.0 (the Company's Operating System) as per ISS Standard Operating Procedures
* Ensure data integrity for all vessel files and record all subsequent information into ISS internal systems
* Ensure compliance with ISS LRQA (Lloyds Register Quality Assurance) and/or customer specific standard
* Ensure all procedural Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are met
* Policies, Procedures & Processes
* Follow internal and external procedures ensuring compliance both with ISS standards, customer standards and legal requirements
* Suggest improvements to existing processes and where appropriate create new processes to ensure operational effectiveness

Port Agent Requirements:

* Eligibility to work in the UK, without sponsorship
* Valid driving license
* 2 + years' experience of working in a similar role in the shipping/maritime industry
* A basic knowledge of Port Operations
* Strong communicator both written and verbal
* Ability to work under pressure and to strict timelines
* Able to effectively manage own work and work unsupervised
* Competent user of the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel and Word
* Self-motivated and driven individual
* Team player

Port Agent Benefits:
