Manufacturing Engineer

�30,000.00 to �35000.00 per annum Depending on Experience & Qualifications

Company Synopsis: Geographically situated on a very easily commutable run close to the motorway networks M6 & M61 near to Preston, Lancashire.

Providing bespoke design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation and commissioning of special purpose equipment to a range of end clients across a multitude of sectors

They provide a full engineering lifecycle support service ranging from concept, scheme and detail design through to complete manufacturing readiness.

They have a first class manufacturing capability that is very well respected throughout the industry for providing high class bespoke fabrications and assemblies.

Projects range from simple static components through to fully automated production plants

Main Purpose of the Manufacturing Engineer Position

Interpret breakdown and process engineering drawings and specifications to enable manufacture

Provide engineering support to engineering design, projects, purchasing, production and quality departments.

Outline of duties and responsibilities

Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings

Generate Master Control Schedule/Bill of materials for material procurement

Identify optimum manufacturing methodology

Extraction of all relevant information from client documentation, specifications, quality plans and ITP's

Produce detailed manufacturing route cards

Identify in-house/sub contract activities

Generate specifications for sub contract

Generate supplementary manufacturing sketches

Problem solving

Oversee production/manufacturing activities and shop support

Sub-contractor support/Technical liaison

Technical liaison

Qualifications

City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering

HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering

Skills and experience required

Substantial level experience in manufacturing environment

Varied background of engineering, disciplines, fabrication and welding (MMA, TIG, MIG/MAG), material processing, surface treatment.

Interpretation of varied types of drawings & specs

Able to work independently & as part of a team

Use of Microsoft Office (word, excel)

Cost analysis/estimating

Good communication skills

Organisational qualities

Commercial awareness

Desirable skill sets and experience (although not essential)

Varied background of engineering disciplines in light and in particular medium and heavy machining and machining/set up of mechanical fabrications

Customer interface & liaison experience

Able to use Auto-Cad & other drawing packages

P6 Programming interpretation

Security Clearance

If not already cleared, candidates should be willing to undertake appropriate level of clearance.
