Here at Brendoncare we are currently looking for a Care Assistant to join our friendly team at our Alton home! As a Care Assistant, your role will focus on providing a high level of residential and nursing care for the residents of our renowned care home. This may include providing care for people living with dementia. Ideally, we are looking for those who are qualified in Social care and have previous experience working in a care environment or with elderly people. Although desirable more importantly, we are looking for those who can show care and commitment and the ability to demonstrate Brendoncare’s core values: kindness, care, choice and community. About Us

Brendoncare is a registered charity, we have 10 care homes across the south of England, each with its own distinctive character, some with specialist dementia units. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people therefore care, choice and community are at the heart of all that we do. We believe in raising the standards of care therefore as a respected force among charities caring for older people, the aim is to aid and influence the future direction of healthcare in the sector.

The Role

As a care assistant for Brendoncare you will provide a person-centred care and support service to the residents of the home. Placing their needs at the heart of all interactions, you will work alongside the nursing team in order to inform and support the care planning process. You will provide personal care for individuals including washing and dressing, ensuring dignity and respect is maintained at all times. You will document the care given and record any abnormalities on a daily basis. Working alongside the Activities Coordinator you will advise them on common interests within the home to help to deliver group and one-to-one activities to entertain the residents and help them to engage.

A key part of your role is to work collaboratively with others including resident’s family and friends. You will also facilitate efficient communication between the residents and other departments for example to request preference in meals or in respect of laundry, creating a comfortable and caring community. You will liaise with other external agencies such as GP’s and Therapists. Additionally, you will work as part of the Care and Nursing team in order to continuously improve standards and practice at the homes.

All Brendoncare employees are expected to carry out their duties in compliance with all Brendoncare policies, procedures and guidelines.

We are offering Part Time and Full-Time hours (being 36 hours per week). This is done of shift rota’s, the minimum expected is 1 shift per week. It is required that every member of staff will work 2 weekend shifts a month. Here at Brendoncare we offer meals for our staff during working hours as well as paid breaks.

Key Skills and Experience


Caring, warm and compassionate attitude
Strong communication skills across all levels
Excellent listening skills
Organisational skills
QCF/NVQ level 2 or 3 in Social Care (desirable)
Ability to undertake QCF Level 2 in Social Care
Basic literacy and numeracy skills
Previous experience working in a care environment (desirable)
Previous experience working with older people (desirable)
Ability to demonstrate the Brendoncare core values
Willingness to receive full training that is provided
