�Manage and develop the civil engineering design team within the Birmingham office.
�Undertake Civil engineering design works for varied types of projects, including residential and commercial.
�On-site inspection/survey work, analysis, production and checking of technical reports, client liaison, support to junior staff and project management.
�Design of junction-capacity mitigation schemes and site accesses.
�Liaison and co-operative working with other staff and colleagues in other disciplines.
�Project management of design projects, supervision and development of other staff, co-ordination with other disciplines/offices, client liaison, fee proposals and invoicing.
�Work involves significant use of specialist design software and CAD.
�Outputs include drawings, reports, calculations and correspondence.
�Role involves submissions of designs for third party approvals and will require pro-active communication with clients, authorities and other agencies to ensure projects are completed to deadlines and budgets.

Responsibilities:
�Manage the delivery of multi-disciplinary civil engineering/infrastructure projects in accordance with company standards within time and on budget.
�Design of new infrastructure schemes (roads, drainage and external works) to serve new developments.
�Design of roundabouts, signal junctions and other S278 highway schemes.
�Design of sustainable drainage systems in accordance with current design guidance and legislation.
�Site visits for inspections or investigation work; attendance at meetings with team, clients and statutory approving bodies.
�Ensure team liaise fully with clients, other staff members and statutory bodies including EHO, Building Control, NHBC, Planning Authorities, Environment Agency, etc to ensure efficient progress with commissions.
�Review calculations, technical documents, reports and correspondence produced by team to ensure delivery of quality, accurate and efficient designs which have undergone rigorous checking procedures throughout the whole process. Ensure all team members follow the same procedures.
Candidate Requirements:
�Educated to a minimum standard of BEng in Civil Engineering studies or other related degree.
�Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and member of The Institution of Civil Engineers.
�Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Micro Drainage, PDS and Autotrack design software packages.
�Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office.
�Detailed knowledge of highways and drainage design standards and good practice, roundabouts, signalled junctions, traffic control schemes and sustainable drainage techniques.
�Strong analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal skills, particularly report writing and client liaison.
�Self-motivated individual with desire to not only work within the team but also have ambition to help it grow and develop. Mentoring/supervision of trainee staff to develop their knowledge and skills.
�Hold full clean driving licence and have own private car with insurance for business use.
