St George's Nursing Home in Royston is currently looking for a registered manager. We are 21-bed nursing home supporting residents who are coming towards the end of their life and need palliative care. We have a CQC rating of 'Good' and are looking for a registered manager who is also a registered nurse to join us.

Our philosophy is to provide our residents with a relaxed and comfortable home in which their care and nursing needs, wellbeing and choice are of prime importance.

We aim to do this by putting our residents at the centre of all decisions about their lives and by encouraging them to exercise their rights in all aspects of their care.

* 30 days annual leave (inclusive of Bank Holidays)
* Monday to Friday office hours
* Employer Pension Contribution of 2% (rising to 3% from April 2019)

Job Duties:

* Resident Care - Ensure the best holistic care is being provided to residents
* Care Plans - Ensure care plans are reviewed and updated in line with residents wishes and ensure all staff are familiar and adhere to agreed care plans
* Safeguarding - Ensure residents are safeguarded from abuse through deliberate intent, negligence or ignorance, in accordance with written policies
* Policies and Procedures - Ensure they are updated where necessary. To control strictly the procedure concerning the prescribing, collection, storage, administration and disposal of all drugs and medical applications
* Staff - Ensure the home is staffed to meet residents needs. To line manage the staff team, encourage and motivate all staff, and ensure annual performance and development appraisals and supervisions are carried out.
* Nursing - to undertake nursing shifts or provide support where required to meet the needs of the home
* Communication - Ensure full liaison with relatives and professional agencies with respect to resident health and welfare
* General Management - Ensure full communication with all staff, ensure compliance with all Health and Safety legislation, ensure acceptable hygiene standards are maintained, promote a positive image of the home by creating an environment which de-stigmatises institutional care
* Knowledge - Remain up to date with currently legislation, thinking and theory in relation to professional conduct and practice, and to ensure staff are familiar with these.
* Professional Development - Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job and participate in appropriate training opportunities

The ideal candidate:

* Must be an NMC Registered Nurse
* Must have experiences in a leadership role in a social care setting, either deputy manager or registered manager
* Hold or be working towards Level 5 Leadership and Management Qualification
* Must have a wide knowledge of managing a nursing home environment
* Must be a first-class motivator and be people orientated
* Must be a team player who can demonstrate flexibility and discreet leadership
* Must be professional in appearance and manner
* Must have a driving license and own vehicle is preferable
