PMLD experienced teaching assistant required in High Wycombe

We are currently looking for a teaching assistant who has previously worked with students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

The position is within a SEN school and would be a challenging but highly rewarding role. Particular personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with PMLD is highly desirable, such as an understanding of the complexities related to this condition. The ideal candidate would have a good knowledge of teaching and behaviour strategies relevant to this.

Candidates who are familiar with PEC’s, TEACCH system, signing (Makaton/BSL/sign-a-long) are strongly encouraged to apply as these skills will be very relevant to the role. A Team Teach qualification or relevant moving and handling experience would be beneficial but not essential. Teaching Personnel are also able to provide a range of training; including Team Teach, Introduction to Autism and Moving and Handling.

We require candidates to apply who are passionate in assisting children with PMLD to access the curriculum. An understanding and flexible nature is essential, and the school is particularly keen to have candidates who are proactive, empathetic, engaging and creative.
