Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit cover supervisors to help with the day to cover across secondary schools in the Portsmouth and surrounding area. The schools which we support range from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’ in their most recent Ofsted reports. Many of the school are part of Academy trusts, often sharing the same values and ethos, allowing you to feel comfortable and familiar as you travel to different schools each day.

The schools often require additional support to ensure the smooth running of their day, requiring cover supervisors to step in when their usual teachers are absent. The role of a Cover Supervisor is a highly rewarding one – building your confidence in your future career, developing skills such as teaching methods and behaviour management and gaining a better understanding of the schools systems and potential routes into teaching.

Skills and experience required to be suitable for this role include:

* Patience, understanding and empathy
* A positive role model for all
* Great communicator
* Have a strong presence within the classroom
* A minimum of GCSE grades A-C
* Experience in managing groups of children in different environments

What can the school offer you?

* If you perform well within the school, they will be able to consider you for future posts including their School Direct Initial Teacher Training (SKITT) or AO route into teaching
* Membership of one of the UK’s largest public sector pension schemes
* Supportive staff providing details of the school policies and timetable before your day begins

If you think you have what it takes to be an effective cover supervisor then please submit your application ASAP via email.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
