Support assistant required to work with student with Autism

Are you confident and experienced with assisting students with Special Educational Needs?

Do you have a good understanding of supporting Autistic learners?

Have you had experience promoting positive behaviour management strategies?

Teaching Personnel are looking for a support assistant to work within a primary class which mainly caters for students who have Autism, Speech and Language Communication needs and moderate learning difficulties. The successful candidate will be required to support the students in class with their work and also provide specific interventions planned by the class teachers to aid the student’s improvement according to their individual education plans. In addition, some extra curricular responsibilities will be required including playground supervision and lunchtime controlling.

You will be:

- Enthusiastic and eager to support wherever needed
- Able to build positive relationships with both pupils and parents
- Hardworking and committed to the school’s values and ethos
- Be able to start immediately

Someone with previous experience in a similar role would be desirable, as would someone with relevant training and experience including Team Teach or Autism Awareness training. There will be opportunities for further professional development with our CPD training courses and the school will be offering in house training as well.
