My client are a medium sized telecommunications company who are looking for an Operations Manager to join their team.

The role will be to manage and support the operations of the business with regard to production, resourcing and logistics, including safety, cost monitoring, quality procedures, workforce control, equipment and material procurement and the training and welfare of the staff and workforce on the projects across the business.

Project delivery will include:

-Identify and obtain relevant information in order to plan the works. Ensure necessary information is provided to all parties (Client, Staff, Operatives, Subcontractors, Suppliers, etc) to ensure efficient design, construction, maintenance and costing.
-Establish and maintain systems for managing site staff and welfare.
Compile budgets / target costs and manage / monitor expenditure against budget / target cost / billable value including updates of forecast.
-Overseeing engineer productivity and on-site performance to ensure delivery of required profit per project and overall delivery within cost expectation.
-Ensure Engineers have the relevant Technical capability, training, tools and accreditation to complete all works without delay.
-Ensure that Engineers have an appropriate Technical Escalation and Support to allow them to complete all works productively without delay.
-Manage and oversee the identification and resolution of Technical Queries, non-conformances and defects.
-Reduction of overall WIP via the proactive management of WorkStacks.
-Monitor productivity and manage / supervise staff, operatives, subcontractors and associated plant.
-Manage the procurement of materials and subcontractors.

Responsibilities will include:

-Identify, manage and monitor risks (safety, quality, environment, programme and commercial).
-Champion performance improvement, supply chain initiatives, build and develop relationships and customer service improvement with clients and customer representatives.
-To fully contribute to the development of the companies overall business development strategy: and thereafter its delivery within projects and customers through building and maintaining strong working relationships with key customers through proven deliverability.
-Identifying profitable tender opportunities and attending joint meetings with prospective / new clients to plan and program works.
-Maintain a culture of being Health & Safety aware and promote awareness of Health & Safety in the workplace and through the engineering work completed by field operatives.
-Management of staff and operatives including monitoring performance, annual appraisals, coaching, recruitment, training and disciplinary / grievance procedures.

Successful Candidate will have the following:

●Knowledge / understanding / experience within similar contract project within telecommunications infrastructure / utilities / highways contracting.
●Track record of success in supporting and delivering a contract or program of works within a region and/or providing support to a professional business function.
●Experience in a telecoms or engineering environment is an asset, but leadership within other industries network rail, utilities, civil engineering etc. are valuable
●Delivery of Projects via Management, Coordination and administrator direct reports
●Commercial awareness in project delivery
●Excellent verbal and written communication to staff at all levels (Internal and external)

Experience Preferences and Abilities:

●Effective Leader and Manager.
●Effective management of field force engineering population.
●Successful delivery of multiple-jobs or programmes of works to time, quality and budget.
●Experienced (at least 5 years) at Managing office and field engineering teams.
●Ability to engage, motivate and lead a team
●Set high standards / expectations and performance goals for self and team
