Teaching Personnel are looking to hear from graduates of English, Maths, Science and Humanities who have aspirations of becoming a secondary school teacher! We are currently working closely with a number of secondary schools across south Manchester (Stockport, Tameside and Trafford) who are looking to recruit graduates in these subjects to join our Future Teachers Programme, starting September 2019!

What is the Future Teachers Programme?

The Future Teachers Programme is designed to attract and support graduates who are considering a career in teaching but want to gain some first hand, PAID, practical experience as a graduate teaching assistant, prior to enrolling on to a teacher training course. As well as helping graduates get into teaching, the programme seeks to help the current shortage of teachers, especially in the core subjects of English, Maths, Science, History, Geography and MFL.

What’s involved in the Future Teachers Programme?

Firstly, successful applicants will join one of our dedicated and reputable secondary schools across south Manchester as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for 12 months. This will allow graduates, like yourself, to gain a variety of teaching experience which is paid! You will earn up to 1080 per month for the first year as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.

Upon successful completion of your 12 months as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to enrol on to your teacher training, starting September 2020, at the same Manchester based secondary school you worked at as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Role and Responsibilities

You will join the secondary schools department for your subject specialism and hold small intervention sessions to support pupils in small groups and on 1:1 to help raise confidence and attainment in the subject over the year. The role of Graduate Teaching Assistant is one that is very rewarding as you will see pupils progress in their studies from the additional support you are providing.

As well as leading your own intervention sessions, you will assist class teachers with lesson planning and preparation and even have the opportunity to plan and deliver your own lessons once you feel confident enough!

Successful graduates to our Future Teachers Programme will be well supported throughout their new role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, right through to completing your teacher training. Our training schools across Greater Manchester are well equipped and extremely supportive of graduates and those considering a career in teaching, providing you will full guidance throughout.

If you are due to graduate this summer with an English, Maths, Science or Humanities related degree and are looking for a progressive route into teaching, our Future Teachers Programme could be the opportunity for you!
