A Hospital School Room, rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, is currently looking to take on an SEN Teaching Assistant on a long-term day-to-day basis.

The school has 2 sites, for Primary and Secondary, based in South East London. You will be required to work across both sites, depending on their staffing needs.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Learning Support Assistant with a background in mental health.

This post is likely to suit an individual with previous experience in a school environment, as either a Teaching Assistant, a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or Teacher wishing to work as an LSA, who is comfortable working across primary and secondary classes.

Secure knowledge and strong support skills in supporting vulnerable people with Social, Emotional mental health is essential.

The school has a reputation for delivering quality education and care services with positive outcomes for children and young people aged 5 to 25 who have experienced difficulties in their previous education placements.

It is our intention that every student develops their courage, determination and skills as a learner, so they can re-engage confidently with their education on discharge. We liaise with mainstream schools and colleges and each young person has an individualised curriculum plan in each subject area, with progress being closely monitored. Our school offers a broad based academic and enrichment curriculum, with specialist teaching spaces, teaching technologies and substantial grounds around our buildings.

The Support Assistant will be expected to:

* Support the activities of all curriculum areas in the classroom
* Work with individuals and groups to support their learning, particularly in coresibjects such as Maths and English
* Provide for the general welfare and pastoral care of children
* Be self-motivated and liaise with members of staff throughout the school, working effectively as a member of the team
* Prepare and clear away materials and assist with displays and general classroom organisation
* Provide some administrative support essential to the smooth running of the school

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates from a specialist education or community provision who are looking to move into a hospital specialist setting.
