From their cGMP certified site situated in the beautiful and scenic Callanish, Isle of Lewis, Scotland, their own experts oversee the commercial scale manufacture of omega-3 and omega-6 products for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and food sectors. For over 20 years they have been developing novel purification methods for fatty acids, such as the industry-leading Maxomega™ and Crystalpure™ technologies.

There is now a new exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly accurate Quality Assurance Officer, ideally with experience in the Pharmaceutical Chemical or Bio-pharma industry to join their existing team of QA Officers.

THE ROLE: As a Quality Assurance Officer you will report to the QA Manager and will be responsible in carrying out batch record reviews as required on final & intermediate products, raw materials and cleaning records. You will also oversee and maintain the Quality Management System. This will encompass administration of electronic data in master control, co-ordination and quality approval of corrective and preventative actions (CAPA’s), change control, deviation, document management and initial laboratory investigations. 

As this is a varied role other responsibilities will be to participate in the Company self-inspection programme, customer audits and regulatory inspections and liaise with auditor / auditees during on-site audit and inspection activities. You will also be involved with the development, management and implementation of responses to audits and perform audits of suppliers and self- inspections. 

You will also participate in and deliver training as required in areas of GMP compliance, the use of master control and general site procedures, and when required, prepare, authorise and apply QA Approved labels. You will also manage and maintain QA filing systems (electronic and paper).

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Quality Assurance Officer must have a degree (or equivalent qualification) in Chemistry or in another science related subject and must be someone who is accurate, highly organised and has excellent IT Skills. You must be able to prioritise and work to deadlines, and have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Experience of working in a quality function role such as Quality Assurance, Quality Control or in a Regulatory type role within the Pharmaceutical (Chemical or Bio-pharma) sector would be advantageous. Previous working knowledge of EUGMP/CGMP and ICH standards is desirable, as is a knowledge and understanding of appropriate GMP Regulations (e.g. Eudralex volume 4) but for the right candidate full in depth training can be given. 

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Quality Assurance Officer's role in Callanish, Isle of Lewis :-

- Must have a degree (or equivalent) qualification in Chemistry or another Science related subject 
- Must be highly organised and accurate with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
- Good IT skills and ability to learn new in house systems essential
- Must live within or be able to easily commute to Callanish, Isle of Lewis 
- Although not essential experience in a similar role in the Pharmaceutical (Chemical or Bio-pharma) highly desirable as is previous working knowledge of EUGMP/CGMP, ICH standards and a knowledge and understanding of appropriate GMP Regulations.
