WORKING HOURS: Full Time Monday – Friday 9am - 5pm

From their cGMP certified site situated in the beautiful and scenic Callanish, Isle of Lewis, Scotland, their own experts oversee the commercial scale manufacture of omega-3 and omega-6 products for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and food sectors. For over 20 years they have been developing novel purification methods for fatty acids, such as the industry-leading Maxomega™ and Crystalpure™ technologies.

There is now a new exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly accurate Quality Control Technician with a strong Scientific background to join their existing team of Quality Control and Technicians.

THE ROLE: As a Quality Control Technician you will be working under laboratory supervision, where your core responsibilities will be in ensuring that all samples are analysed, reported and checked within the requisite timeframes, carrying out analysis using LIMS and ensuring maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment is undertaken as scheduled. You will also support analytical method development and maintain an adequate stock of chemicals and consumables for the Quality Control department. Moreover, you will be involved in the preparation of stability trial samples including analysis and reporting and checking analytical results. Quality Control Technicians must ensure that OOS, OOE or OOT results are promptly brought to the attention of Laboratory Supervision for further investigation. You will be responsible for complying with the Company health and safety requirements at all times and will work
within a good housekeeping framework. 

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Quality Control Technicians must have a strong scientific background, and will ideally have a degree in a science related discipline coupled with previous laboratory experience and a working knowledge of HPLC, GC, chromatography, LIMS and cGMP/GLP protocols. However, candidates with other scientific qualifications will be considered if coupled with relevant and demonstrable experience. You must be able to work to deadlines and will be able to work well under pressure. A flexible approach to working hours is required in order to support weekend working and on-call systems. Candidates must live within commutable distance or be looking to relocate by their own means to Callanish, Isle of Lewis.

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Quality Control Technicians role in Callanish, (Stornoway) Isle of Lewis :-

- Strong scientific background, and will ideally have a degree in a science related discipline
- Laboratory experience and working knowledge of HPLC, GC, chromatography, LIMS and cGMP/GLP protocols
- Must be accurate and able to work to deadlines
- Good IT skills and ability to learn new in house systems essential
- A flexible approach to working hours is required in order to support weekend working and on-call systems
- Must be able to easily commute to Callanish, (Stornoway) Isle of Lewis 
- Experience in a similar role in the Pharmaceutical (Chemical or Bio-pharma) industry would be desirable as is previous working knowledge of EUGMP/CGMP, ICH standards and a knowledge and understanding of appropriate GMP Regulations.
