Autism support experience is a requirement especially in the Primary education sector, or other related environments.

There is a possibility that the child will require further support into the next academic year. In the past the school have used Teaching Personnel to recruit staff through temp. to perm. options.

The child is currently working in a Year 3 class; academically the child is working at lower levels and targeted to work in line with Year 1 age related levels. The school are therefore open to seeing CVs of candidates who have previously gained experience in KS1 and possibly EYFS.

The school will look to appoint through a series of interviews and observations. After shortlisting the Head teacher has asked for candidates to spend half a day in school. This will comprise of an interview with the Head teacher, SENCO and Business Manager as well as a 1 lesson observation. The observation will give the Head teacher and SENCO the opportunity to see the applying candidates in action working alongside the child. They will be looking for examples of relationship building with the child, the other children and the staff in school. The Head teacher is always keen to give appropriate training for any new member of staff and so she has commented that on the observation it is more about the personality fit and relationship building aspect of the role. Sometimes the child does work in small groups and so it will be part of your role to not only support the child, but also the other children in the group; these children will mainly be lower attaining academically.

The school is currently graded GOOD by Ofsted. The Head teacher has been in post for a number of years and has moved the school from Requires Improvement to a school on the verge of OUTSTANDING.
