First Class Support  provides academic support to students in receipt of disabled student allowance (DSA). We pride ourselves on only employing first class support specialists that are passionate about making a difference to the lives of people studying higher education courses across the UK. Due to continued expansion, we are looking to galvanise our team of highly qualified and experienced specialist support staff. There is currently a position available for an  experienced  assistive technology trainer, to carry our company name. Competition will be potentially tough, so only the best need apply. Your role: This activity provides support over and above the practical installation and facilitation support given to students on receiving a new piece of software. Its purpose is to provide a substantial programme of training for the student in how to use the range of assistive technology and specialist software or hardware, in relation to their studies. Training is often delivered in students’ own homes where a risk assessment will be conducted beforehand. Students may often receive face to face training on software at their institution of study. Often it is more appropriate for flexibility in delivery with a greater number of sessions with each session lasting only an hour or an hour and a half, according to student need. Training may also need to be phased throughout the course. Your Skills : Assistive Technology (AT) trainers require knowledge and skills in strategies to support learning and a broad understanding about the range of existing products and technological solutions to learning challenges. Knowledge and understanding of students’ learning requirements is fundamental to this activity alongside an understanding of how to address learning challenges. These challenges might include organisational skills, planning and time management or concentration, or gaining access through, for example, vision or hearing. Solutions include assistive technology, software programmes such as mind mapping, text to speech and speech to text, Microsoft Windows and Mac accessibility options and features to support learning such as the use of Outlook for organisational skills and digital recorders to aid memory. They require significant experience of working in a training capacity with people with a disability and an understanding of the kind of work required by a student at higher education. Your qualifications/training: We ask that all applicants have had at least one year experience of providing this type of support to disabled students. First Class Commitment To Our Staff For this specific role, successful applicants will receive: £30.00 per hour Ongoing training and professional development A photographic ID card A personalised @firstclass email address A new DBS check PI insurance, provided by First Class Support Support worker prizes (when nominated by students) Flexible working patterns Opportunities for progression Additional Information: The working hours vary according to the needs of the student and the number of students you will be allocated. All support workers are  currently  paid on a self-employed basis whereby they are responsible for paying their own NI contributions and tax. All First Class employees must be able to receive emails and phone calls when on location. Only the most experienced and qualified support workers will be selected for interview. We are looking for fresh and engaging staff to alter the dynamics of NMH in a positive and objective way. We are looking for people to bring something exciting to the company as well as their credentials. Please attach your CV when applying in the first instance. As we anticipate a high volume of applications, if you do not receive a reply within 5 weeks, please consider you application unsuccessful
