Teaching Personnel are working on behalf of the Head Teacher of a secondary provision for challenging behaviour in Hartlepool who are seeking a Teaching Assistant on a full time basis, to commence as soon as possible working with students who have a range of SEN including autism and ADHD.

The role will involve working on a 1:1 and small group basis with pupils aged 11-16; the students are in need of extra support and guidance during their lesson time. The main aspect of the role will be helping the students to engage with their learning, and encouraging personal and social development whilst managing challenging behaviour throughout the day. You will be expected to monitor student’s personal progress within lessons, and you will have regular meetings with the class teacher to discuss this and to provide support for yourself within the role. Students in this provision often display extremely challenging behaviour, as well as social emotional and mental health difficulties.

You will be passionate about improving the lives of young people and have a strong desire to work with SEND, the successful candidate will be confident in handling extremely challenging behaviour. It would be beneficial to be Team Teach trained for this role.
