Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrically biased) – Manchester - Contract

06.00 – 14.00 and 14.00 – 22.00 alternate weekly shift Monday – Friday

Every other Saturday (8 hours starting at 07.00 or 08.00) with a day off in the week

Role Purpose

To work closely with the production team to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and that all preventative maintenance is conducted in advance to avoid production disruption. To be pro-active, identifying and recommending areas of improvement to achieve the necessary continuity and efficiency of production.

Key Accountabilities

-To work safely at all times

- Responsible for food safety, quality and legality at all times

- To assist in achieving maximum production efficiency, by using a pro-active approach in preventative / predictive maintenance techniques

- To keep downtime to a minimum by effectively dealing with breakdowns as and when they occur; using Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatic and PLC skills

-To be involved in project work to assist production team and engineering

-To carry out all types of engineering installations including; electrical, mechanical, fabrication, plumbing, pipe work

- To make alterations and suggestions for Continuous Improvement

- o provide drawings, measurements & specifications of spares required

-To comply and assist with all technical and HACCP requirements to ensure the best product quality

-To supervise contractor activity within company policy

-To input records of all work carried out into the Computerised Maintenance Management System

-To guide the Engineering Apprentice in all aspects of engineering.

-To supervise contractor activity in the absence of the Engineering Manager

- To follow all relevant safe systems of work and risk assessments

Key Result Areas

Maintain safety in working area.

Effectively deal with breakdowns to keep downtime minimal

Meet technical and HACCP requirements.

Relevant record keeping on Computerised Maintenance Management System.

Contractor supervision

Essential Requirements

* 17th Edition Electrical

* Time served apprenticeship

* Minimum NVQ Level 3 or higher

* PPM/CMMS systems

* PLC fault finding

* FMCG Maintenance

Desirable Requirements

* Thermographic/PAT/Electrical testing

* Risk assessment writing

* Welding skills
