Construction Coordinator
Based at Gatwick Airport
12 month rolling contract
�350 - 450 per day

Summary:

The project involves the extension of existing airport pier facilities, passenger gate lounges/services, creation of additional aircraft stands, taxiway/pavement interfaces and supporting utility provisions, and candidate should have experience of similar scope.

Performs construction engineering assignments of a varied nature requiring a full working knowledge of construction engineering practices. Exercises professional judgment within the framework of broad guidelines provided by superiors. May have responsibility to provide direction to less experienced construction engineers, or construction office technical or clerical personnel.

The Project Has Multiple Progressive Stages Which The Candidate Will Be Heavily Involved In A Leadership Role:

* Development Consent Order
* Design Development
* Procurement
* Enabling and Main Works
* Handover and Operations

Essential Job Duties:

* Construction planning support for methods and procedures for construction scope including earthworks, concrete and asphalt strategy for cut/fill optimization, material haul routes, bulk commodities supply options.
* Planning support for temporary facilities and contractor compounds including site layout and concept of operations of compounds
* Constructability input to the design development of various elements of the work including conceptual input to 3d and 4d construction planning
* Technical and procedural input to the overall Construction Execution Plan and Contract Packaging Plan
* Input to the development of the BIM model to enable value to be derived from automation during the construction stage
* Input to the Procurement Strategy including required-on-site date extraction from the schedule, and procedural compliance planning
* Staging and temporary works detailed planning including concrete and asphalt batch plants operations, concrete waste recovery and crushing operations, stockpile management and logistics
* Input to tender formation for temporary works, automation, construction procedures and quality assurance and ES&H
* Input to the formation stage of the tender and Bid Evaluate Award cycle including technical and ES&H evaluation and recommendation
* Coordination of technical queries during procurement stage
* Procedural, assurance and temporary works support to mobilization(s) of various contractors and work sites including CDM compliance and ES&H readiness assessments
* Coordination of technical queries from contractors
* Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
* Technical and assurance support to the contractors’ efforts in obtaining completion certificates and enabling taking over activities by Gatwick Airport and the Project Manager
* Coordination of contractor and others’ punch lists and defects identification and work-off
* Support the orderly ramp down of contractors’ work sites and facilities in assigned area

Job Knowledge:

* Knowledge of technical engineering discipline, contracts administration and/or cost and scheduling relating to the construction of heavy industrial projects.
* Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
* Awareness of environmental compliance laws and requirements.
* Knowledge and experience of the UK’s CDM Regulations 2015, knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan
* Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
* Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies.
* A recognized Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline coupled with work experience leading to a basic understanding of the technical knowledge described above.
