Employee Relations Advisor FTC

Location: Central Birmingham (Train pass included) B3 2ES

Salary: Competitive Salary, plus benefits

Contract Type: 12-month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity cover)

About the Company:

West Midlands Trains are currently looking for an Employee Relations Advisor to cover maternity leave for a 12-month period. Based in central Birmingham this is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the business at a time of a large investment programme of �1bn with more people now travelling by train than ever before.

The Employee Relations Advisor Role:

As an Employee Relations (ER) Advisor you will be supporting in the review, development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and process guides. You will also provide HR policy and process advice to the business as well as supporting ER Case Advisors and HR Business Partners with HR support, including minute taking, arranging meetings, preparing case documentation.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with the rest of the rest of HR Department supporting on projects and initiatives such as absence reduction. You will act as the main point of contact for Trade Union related matters, specifically related to elections, procedure agreement queries and release.

We are looking for an organised individual as the need to meet deadlines is key. You will have excellent interpersonal skills in order to build trust and confidence from key stakeholders across West Midlands Trains when handling sensitive ER issues. Active engagement with a wide variety of people is essential.

Employee Relations Advisor Requirements:

* Ideally CIPD qualified or working towards CIPD status or equivalent experience
* A successful track record in providing HR generalist work in a large, multi-disciplined operational organisation.
* Experience of providing clear, balanced advice and guidance on a wide range of generalist HR issues to management teams.
* Advanced level of IT competency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
* Strong negotiating, influencing and interpersonal communication skills
* Able to withstand pressure and is resilient in maintaining own convictions where merited
* Strong customer service orientation with a focus on delivery
* Process focused, attention to detail and accuracy is essential
* Excellent minute taking skills both verbatim and summary style
* High standard of verbal and written communication.
* Good team player and confidence to communicate processes to managers
* Experience of developing strong working relationships with trade unions is desirable
