Product Manager (Digital News/Agile) - London

£45 to £50k basic

My client, UK's largest award winning News Publisher is looking to hire a Product Manager to join their Revenue team and help monetise their digital news products. Experience with agile working practices will be helpful.

This is an opportunity to work across a wide range of commercial features, including display ads, content recommendations via Taboola and Outbrain, content syndication, affiliate links, commercial partnerships and sponsored content, in a fast-paced and friendly environment.

This news publisher has an award-winning digital portfolio comprising more than 50 titles, and they reach over 150m monthly unique users and are constantly expanding their digital portfolio, adopting new technologies and evolving their products to meet the needs of their users, advertisers and partners.

Principal responsibilities

The Product Manager works with commercial stakeholders to assess new opportunities to generate digital revenue and optimise existing solutions.

They clarify requirements, estimate the potential benefits, test assumptions, consider legal and technical constraints, and work with the development team and/or external partners to implement new functionality.

They are mindful of the impact on users of our news websites and aim to deliver sustainable solutions that generate long-term business value.

The Product Manager supports the Senior Product Manager on larger projects, and runs smaller ones independently.

Required key skills (functional/technical)

Business acumen, including the ability to recommend a course of action

Communicates effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners and suppliers

Explores new opportunities with stakeholders and partners to assess potential benefits

Excellent analytical skills - uses qualitative and quantitative input from user research, multivariate testing, product analytics and commercial reporting systems to inform product development and

optimise performance of commercial features

Able to translate business requirements into clear user stories for the developers and testers

Keen to experiment and make use of agile and lean methodology in a self-organising team

Committed to measuring product performance to evaluate how well the product is serving the purpose it was made for, solving problems for users and creating business value

Required qualifications/experience

Degree-level education or equivalent experience

1-2 years in product management, ideally including roles in media companies

Experience with agile working practices

Experience monetising digital products would be an advantage
