Established in 1983, Laxcon Construction are a family run business that have grown to encompass a wide range of building, property development and house building skills, which has been one of the key elements to their success and enables them to offer a competitive and quality service. 

Laxcon are now looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join them as soon as possible at their head office in London. They require a strong leader with particular experience of the high-end residential market to join them during an unprecedented period of growth
As Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with the Directors who form Senior Management Team and drive progress across designated projects with values ranging from £5m to £25m whilst imparting your knowledge to junior members of staff positioned under you. 

Main duties and responsibilities of the role include:
• Consulting with the design team to develop designs, including timescales, surveys required and costs involved 
• Commercial Appraisals, Cost Planning and Feasibility 
• Cost Reporting 
• Value Engineering 
• Project Variations 
• Developing programmes illustrating the process from initial design to final completion 
• Monitoring project progress once building starts, checking progress and quality of the build 
• Ensuring health and safety and risk is managed for both client and contractor 
• Contractual Matters 
• Creating and monitoring variations and change requests 
• Dealing with Sub-Contractor/ Supplier Payments 
• Attending site meetings 
• Liaising with the Professional Team 

To be successful for this role, you will be an analytical thinker with the autonomy to solve problems quickly and effectively. You will be ambitious and looking to progress your career with a London-based main contractor. You will be goal focused and be able to amend planned activities at short notice. 

Other skills and experience required for the role:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor and/or Construction Management role
• A strong awareness of health and safety
• Knowledge of the various RIBA Stages
• RICS accredited degree in Quantity Surveying or similar 
• Must be proficient at I.T 
• Although not essential, you will ideally hold a Full UK Driving licence
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to lead and be a mentor 
• Be well organised and able to demonstrate a proven capability in report writing
• Project management skills would also be useful

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday with working Saturdays as necessary to manage the demands of each project. Although this is an office based role, you will be required to visit sites in and around London.
In return, you will receive a salary of up to £70,000 per annum, pension and 28 days holiday including public holidays.
