Our client is an organisation focused on supporting manufacturers to accelerate towards a sustainable future. They work across a number of key focus areas within industry deploying strategic tools to solve challenges related to productivity, upscaling and the circular economy. Their projects seek to deliver value for their customers who are predominantly within the automotive, marine and aerospace sectors.

The Team:

The Commercial Team is responsible for ensuring industry wide influence and value creation. The team is responsible for sales of their consultancy services and commercialisation of their ideas and knowledge.

They are looking for a driven and ambitious Sales Director to join our client's team with a salary starting at �65k (DoE) plus commission. The Sales Director reports directly to the Executive Director. Taking a consultative sales approach, the Sales Director will need to establish strong senior customer relationships, understanding their business need, in order to deploy the right tools and knowledge to demonstrate exceptional value, whilst using market intelligence to ensure their commercial offering remains leading edge and attractive.

To succeed in the role, the Sales Director will demonstrate proven experience of successfully leading a sales team, demonstrable interest in creating value for their customers and stakeholders, deliver on commercial targets, alongside excellent relationship management skills and a genuine interest in the advancement of manufacturing.

The Sales Director will have experience to lead and drive a sales team and at the same time is keen to work as part of the Executive team.

Responsibilities of the Sales Director:

* Deliver commercial sales targets
* Own and implement sales process
* Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand their customer base
* To Lead and mentor our client's commercial team and be responsible for achieving the commercial income
* Create and maintain key senior customer relationships
* Together with the technical teams, develop and define commercial offering
* Together with the marketing team, develop appropriate supporting materials
* Drive the commercialisation of research output
* Deliver the commercial income as defined in business plan
* Develop close relationships with customers on a senior level across all regions
* Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives
* Develop and monitor sales plans to generate income from commercial customers
* Implement measures and processes to ensure commercial team are directed to generate income targets
* Ensure training and development plans for the commercial team members are in place
* Leading customer strategy workshops
* Support with working onsite at customer locations as and when required
* Understand manufacturing specific landscapes and trends
* Reporting on targets and strategic direction of accounts

Requirements of the Sales Director:

* Degree in a relevant area and / or extensive industrial experience
* Experience in sales of complex services - ideally in the automotive or other manufacturing sector
* Experience in effectively line manage and motivate commercial staff and effectively set objectives / manage appraisals
* Ability to develop, monitor and deliver a co
