Teaching Personnel are currently working with a Primary school in the Aintree area of Liverpool, who are currently looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to start in September 2019. The role runs on a full-time basis, working with a Reception child who has autism, and could potentially become permanent for the right candidate.

It is vital to the school that a positive learning environment is created, where both the students and the staff enjoy learning and where there are opportunities for pupils learning to progress.

The position is:

* On a Full time supply basis
* Long term - starting in September 2019 on an ongoing basis
* To support an individual Reception pupil with autistic needs.
* �285 - �350 per week

Your work as a special needs teaching assistant would typically involve:

* Supporting schoolwork under the supervision of the teacher
* Encouraging the child’s confidence, self esteem and independence
* Helping the child understand instructions, through repetition, re-phrasing or demonstrating
* Putting into practice individual education, social, behavioural and personal care programmes
* Encouraging the child to communicate with others and with staff
* Providing feedback to the teachers
* Supporting the child in social activities and on outings
* Recognising signs of distress in children and offering reassurance
* Attending to the child’s physical needs
* Completing records

Key skills and experience needed:

* Experience working in either specialist schools such as SEN schools, or previous experience working 1-1 with children who have Special Educational Needs.
* Previous support work within a school or other child related experience
* Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour
* SEN experience is essential
* One to one and small group work
* Professional manner
* Enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach
