RF/Microwave Engineer



We have a very exciting opportunity for an RF/Microwave Engineer/designer to join a fast growing high tech company in the financial sector.

The RF/Microwave Engineer will be part of a world class wireless team working from the London office and supporting the field technology function based in Berkshire. The main function of the role is to develop low-latency, high capacity wireless networks around the globe . Based in London you will travel on a weekly basis in the UK mainly to Slough Berkshire and very occasionally internationally to US.


* Design, implementation and optimization of a wide range of bespoke wireless technologies.
* Assist in evaluation and selection of new systems.
* Line-of-sight RF link design, system tuning and optimization, interference measurement/tracking, and general RF troubleshooting.
* Identifying and qualifying potential sites and paths for the networks
* Link budget creation and system performance prediction.
* Use of RF and network test equipment to measure and evaluate component and system performance in laboratory and field testing.
* Create well organized instructions for Field Engineers to implement engineering requirements.
* Analysis of test results and close interaction with NOC and business teams to optimize the network.
* Work with regulators to license frequencies as required and ensure regulatory compliance.
* Assist in site surveys and site acquisition
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with other teams to ensure project-related action items are reviewed and executed in a timely manner.

Skills you'll have:

* Minimum of a Bachelors' degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant subject
* Strong understanding of RF principles/theory (Signal Path, Power, Frequency, Noise, Modulation, etc.).
* Detailed knowledge of RF systems including point to point microwave systems . Experience with low-latency systems is a plus.
* Experience designing microwave paths and link budgets using planning tools such as Pathloss/Sitesyc/Splat! .
* Solid understanding and hands-on experience with RF and network test instruments and tools including spectrum analyzers, power meters, signal generators, BER testers, etc.
* Experience with the following programming/scripting languages: Python , Matlab, C/C++, bash scripting, Cisco ios
* Proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel and Visio.
* Strong understanding of optical networking systems (BGP)
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop and present ideas clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical team members
* Willing to travel out of London up to 25%, may be up to 50% some months.
