Application Support Engineer

Location: London

Salary: Competitive

Hours: 7.5-hour shift, 5 days per week between 7 am and 11 pm from Monday to Sunday. This will entail working 1 full weekend, 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday during each four-week period.

Our client is a privately-owned company providing statistical research and sports modelling services to customers, including professional gamblers.

Founded in 2004, our client has a proven record of providing exceptional services to its clients. They are a growing company and work in an exciting and fast-paced industry of which they are a market leader.

They are currently recruiting for the role of Client Application Support Engineer to provide primary support to clients of their sports betting trading technology. The Client Application Support (CAS) team is the first port of call for all software and related hardware issues and is responsible for monitoring, resolving and escalating problems with our clients services and production servers.

Responsibilities of the Application Support Engineer:

* Provide support for their web and desktop-based applications.
* Monitor production server processes and performance.
* Investigate, log and report software and server issues.
* Liaise with software developers to resolves issues
* Provide accurate and concise reports of daily activity
* Log, assign, escalate and track reported issues using their helpdesk ticketing system.
* Follow up issues/requests with users, providing their clients with excellent customer service
* Participate in the shift rota to cover support hours of 7am-11pm

Requirements of the Application Support Engineer:

Essential

* Windows OS experience
* Knowledge of SQL, including writing queries and some basic data manipulation
* Experience of MS Office Suite
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Good organisation and time management.
* Good customer service skills.
* Be able to work as part of a team and independently.

Desirable

* Experience of 2nd line support within a structured support environment
* Experience supporting bespoke application software, or similar
* Exposure to an IT Support ticketing system (e.g. Jira Service Desk, ServiceNow)
* Working knowledge of web technologies (e.g. HTTP, HTML, JSON)
* Any experience of 1st/2nd line support within the finance industry is highly desirable
* Experience of MS SQL Server.
* Knowledge of monitoring tools (Nagios, Kibana, Elastic Search)
* Knowledge of scripting languages (Powershell, Perl)
* Knowledge of ITIL processes
* Familiarity with the betting industry
* Keen interest in sport, especially football
