Hours of work: 35 hours per week 52 weeks of the year Monday - Friday

Salary: £28,410 per annum

Benefits: 23 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays, increasing on length of service. 4% employer contribution to company pension.

Location: Cardiff Head Office

Our client is the largest provider of comprehensive membership services to the Early Years sector in Wales. They believe that all families have the right to high quality play, education and care opportunities to help their children reach their potential.

They want to support all children, parents/carers/families and Early Years providers to give every child across Wales the best start in life.

Their services are currently expanding to develop a new professional learning/training department as part of the organisation's overall strategic plan.

They are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring individual to develop an evolving learning/training programme. This will meet the current and future needs of all of their stakeholders including their 700 members and the Early Years Wales team.

To be successful, the applicant will be suitably experienced and qualified to deliver training and have considerable experience in developing learning plans, resources and delivering to diverse audiences, ideally using different delivery models. They will also be able to identify gaps in current CPD provision.

The current programme includes Reflective Practice, the Incredible Journey, Play 2 Learn, Journey through Play (0-3), a wide range of specialist workshops for parents and practitioners.

This is an interesting and exciting time to join the organisation when early years, childhood, education and care policy is being reviewed and reformed by Welsh Government. The new Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development qualification has just been launched and offers us opportunities to support learners and employers.

With the Childcare Offer now available across the whole of Wales and the advent of the new Curriculum 2022, they are responding to the needs of their member providers to ensure that children and families are supported to achieve their potential through national and locally funded support programmes and making the most of opportunities for the sector. They have recently begun the Welsh Active Early Years Project which will support adults and children in achieving healthy active lifestyles.

As Professional Learning and Development Officer you will be responsible to the National Development Manager, CEO and Trustees for overseeing the development and delivery of the learning/training programme. This will involve the recruitment of learning/training facilitators throughout Wales, identifying sources of fundraising and assisting in funding bids in liaison with colleagues in lead policy areas.

The successful applicant will work alongside the National and Regional Managers who all lead on the policy areas that shape and inform early years provision in Wales to develop an exemplar programme for stakeholders.

Performance criteria - during the first year in post the Development Officer would be expected to

- Review the current CPD offer provided at our client
- Collate a programme for that offers CPD for early years and play workforce and opportunities for parents to learn about the importance of play in their child's development
- Develop and implement a marketing plan for CPD for the wor
