Specialist Care Centre is looking for a REGISTERED NURSE to join for caring for individuals who have complex neurological conditions such as brain injury, MultipleSsclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson's Disease and Huntington's Disease.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for all clinical and nursing tasks required by the residents/guests. This will include overseeing the work of the carers and ensuring that good standards of clinical care are maintained.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the needs of the residents/guests, planning their care, implementing the interventions and evaluating its effectiveness.

Clinical Manager

Principal duties and responsibilities:

1. Promoting effective and evidence based nursing care ensuring that each residents/guest has an individualised and person centred plan which is realistic and positive and takes into account the individual personal preferences of the residents/guest;

2. Attending to the clinical needs of all the residents/guests, including medication, care of wounds, catheter and bowel care, nutrition and hydration, end of life care, and any other care that may be required by the residents/guest at that time;

3. Clinical leadership to care assistants working in their allocated areas;

4. Ensuring that all care is provided in accordance with best practice as indicated by The Nursing and Midwifery Council;

5. Ensuring that all care plans are maintained and stored confidentially. These must be current, relevant and regularly reviewed;

6. Working as a member of the interdisciplinary team and ensuring that information is shared accurately and appropriately both verbally and in written form;

7. Taking a responsible attitude to personal health and safety and to that of colleagues, residents/guests and visitors to the centre;

8. Identifying opportunities to update skills and knowledge;

9. Promoting the work of the centre and in developing its role in the community;

10. Working with the Senior Nursing Team to implement a new philosophy of the Care with focuses on holistic evidence based provision of care.

The Registered Nurse will be required to undertake additional tasks as deemed necessary by the management.

Key performance requirements:

1. Ability to work within a team and to support care assistants, colleagues and students;

2. Work with the Management to provide a programme of care for staff;

3. Ability to prioritise workload and meet requirements for written reports for meetings and reviews and care plans;

4. Work within an evidence based framework which encourages and promotes the use of research and innovation;

5. Behave in a confidential, competent and professional manner at all times to uphold the reputation of teh Care Cente

6. Ability to seek advice and recognise personal limitations and to make positive use of supervision.

Personal attributes and skills:

1. Must be a qualified Registered Nurse with a current valid NMC PIN number;

2. Experience in the areas of general nursing, mental health or learning disabilities nursing;

3. Ability to build effective working relationships with team members, outside colleagues, residents/guests and relatives;

4. Positive attitude and enthusiasm towards residents/guests and the wider work of the centre;

5. Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the care of disabled adults;
