Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to develop your career as an SEN teaching assistant?

This role will suit someone available for full time work, who can start in January 2020. You will provide 1:1 support for a primary age class, comprising 6 students who have mixed, complex needs. You must have experience of working with special needs, particularly those who have physical disabilities and require toileting and hoisting assistance.

You will work with children who have severe learning difficulties and are mostly non-verbal communicators, following direction from the class teacher and working collaboratively with 3 other teaching assistants. You will be a crucial component in the children's sensory, social, speech, language and communication development. It would be beneficial if you have prior experience of using PECs or Makaton as this will be something you use every day.

The ideal candidate:

* Will be able to provide personal care throughout the day, including toileting and changing students
* Will be able to use hoist equipment for children in wheelchairs (moving and handling training is desirable)
* Will be able to commit to working at this school full time, long term and potentially become a permanent member of staff in the future
* Will be committed to their own professional development, and will take every opportunity to attend training courses either at the school or through Teaching Personnel
* Will already be able to use PECs or Makaton, or will be willing to learn
