Project / Management Accountant; Bristol; Contract; £Rate to be discussed We are looking for a Project/Management Accountant to work with our client based in Bristol to the end of April 2020. The role is to cover supporting the business activities principally on projects and month end processing. You will ensure that forecast orders, sales and invoicing are updated on both existing and prospect programs. Completion of the financial elements to support Program Dashboards. Monitoring of project expenditure and delivery on assigned programs. Supporting Program Managers to understand actual costs incurred. Supporting Programme Managers in ensuring costs to completion estimates and estimates at completion (EAC) for programmes are correctly reflected. Proactive in identifying cost savings. Ensure currency hedges are set up and monitored. Monitoring and reporting on risks associated with Programs. Play an active part in the reconciliation of project costs within oracle. Supporting the Financial Controller in preparation of annual budgets (MYB) and forecasts. Supporting other finance function requirements reporting / Audits / Bids as required. Support the month end activities and reporting cycle. Travel: Travel is sometimes required principally between two sites Bristol and Harwell (near Oxford). Principal Relationships: Chief Financial Officer, Financial Controller Program Managers Bid Managers Project Controllers Key stakeholders. Key Responsibilities and tasks Liaise with all functions to ensure: - Costs to date are well understood. Ensure financial integrity and adherence to process (Chorus 2.0). Analysis of variances are documented and reported. Analysis of risks are properly reported and controlled. Financial data is presented and reported in line with current Accounting Standards Monthly financial figures are produced in a timely and accurate fashion. Budgets and forecasts are accurate, achievable and understood by all members of the management team. Consolidation of business areas overall position, for which the role is responsible, in a timely and accurate fashion. Attend Management meetings and present findings as and when required. Assist in the development of IT tools and reporting techniques. Maintain the Thales Four Key Values. Maintain an ethical approach to business, in line with the ethics policy Preparation and presentation of program Financial Data to Auditors where appropriate (both External and Internal). The job holder will be required to perform ad-hoc additional duties that will arise from time to time that are consistent with the nature of this managerial position. Qualifications, Skills & Experience; Essential Ability to assimilate and analyse technical, financial and commercial information. Experience in providing financial analysis in a moving technical environment. Change agent, able to identify and implement change within the finance environment, and to support the change process in the Company as a whole, to improve effectiveness Highly proficient in Excel. Desirable Good working understanding of ERP systems (ideally Oracle). Ability to communicate clearly across Functions in a Matrix Environment Ability to work autonomously and a keen team player, energetic self-starter with a pro-active and challenging approach. Ability to think outside the box, identify real issues and deliver through to completion. Experience: A demonstrable positive performance record in the following activities; Essential Experience of Project Accounting within an engineering/manufacturing background. Understanding of commercial and financial aspects of the business. Ability to interact and communicate complex issues with personnel at all levels in a Matrix organisation Desirable Good team player, with ability to lead small teams to address and resolve financial issues as required. Commercially and financially aware, suitable level of experience working within a commercial/financial environment. Ability to interact and communicate with non-financial managers at all levels of the organisation While specific knowledge of the French Language is not a prerequisite for this position it would be advantageous to facilitate activities across the organisation. Qualifications: Desirable Ideally a professional accounting qualification or part qualified and studying towards related qualification CIMA or ACCA (or equivalent). Ideally educated to degree level (preferably in a finance, or related discipline). Or Proven experience of project accounting.
