The Company

Our client specialises in the packaging and distribution of various vegetable products. With various sites throughout the UK and plants in Spain, this multimillion pound business can handle a huge variety of vegetables from potatoes to broccoli.

The business was founded over 120 years ago supplying vegetables to London markets, but through natural growth and acquisition they have become one the leading business in the UK market.

As well as financial targets, the business also focuses on a number of other key goals each year. For example the business has been reducing their waste to land fill steadily over the last few years. They hope that 2014 is the first year they can get this figure down to zero.

The company are also very keen on developing their staff. As such they are more than happy to pay for any qualifications or training for employees as long as it is relevant to the needs of the business. Currently they have engineers completing both City & Guilds and HNC qualifications.

The Role

The business currently has need of a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join their established team. The department has a tried and tested PPM schedule which is currently running at 60%, thus a lot of the day to day maintenance of the lines will revolve around the routine maintenance of the lines.

The Multiskilled Maintenance Engineers would also be required to work on any breakdowns that occur, including fault finding using a multimeter against engineering drawings. Lines include washers, multihead weighers, pumps, filters, belt conveyors (belt, chain and mesh), agitators, shakers, effluent plant, baggers, flow wrappers and pallet wrappers. Some site maintenance would also be required.

The role is roughly 50% mechanical and 50% electrical. Although all the lines are PLC controlled, the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineers would not need to go into the code and make any adjusts. It would be necessary to fault find on inputs and outputs against electrical drawings.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application you must have the following skills or attributes:

* Time served Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer.
* Must be able to fault find on electrical systems using a multimeter.
* Must be able to read electrical drawings.
* Must hold an electrical or mechanical qualification (City & Guilds or higher).
* Must have 17 th Edition.

The Benefits

As the successful candidate you would have the opportunity to receive both in house and supplier. Long term there would also be the opportunity to move into supervisory roles as the Maintenance department expands.
