Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with some evening/ weekend working


A beautiful site set in stunning grounds requiring a Services Manager to oversee the Catering and Housekeeping divisions. A fantastic role for a hospitality or hotel professional looking for a work life balance in a progressive organisation in a beautiful location.


The role of Head of General Services is to oversee the management and daily operations of the Catering and Housekeeping teams. In particular to ensure that the site is looking its best at all times and offers a welcoming environment.


- Leadership of the Catering and Events function, monitoring standards of specification achievement through effective line management of the Catering and Events Manager, Deputy Catering and Events Manager and Head Chef
- To ensure that food (and beverage) standards are met through regular communication with the Catering and Events Manager
- Leadership of the Housekeeping and Laundry functions; monitoring standards of specification achievement through effective line management of the Housekeeping Services Manager
- To ensure that standards for Housekeeping and the cleanliness of all areas are met through regular communication with the Housekeeping team.
- To assist in the recruitment, assessment, selection and appointment, induction and training of catering and housekeeping personnel and that up to date records are maintained
- To monitor and maximise the financial viability of both departments and take an active role in forecasting, budgeting and reporting for each department.
- To continue to develop an effective, cohesive, competent and professional team.
- To ensure a consistently high level of customer care is delivered at all times.
- To liaise with the Maintenance Team, and the Health & Safety Manager to ensure that the site is well maintained to meet legal and customer standards.
- To manage, direct and develop departmental heads and their teams, leading from the front and working alongside them creating clear guidelines while tracking progress and implementing change/improvements.
- To monitor and feedback on performance and acknowledge achievements.
- To promote team work in an inspiring, mentoring and motivating manner.
- To take ownership of day to day operations, delegating where necessary and empowering managers to make decisions.


- Experience working in the Hotel or Facilities Management industry with strong Catering, Housekeeping and Facilities and volume experience
- Ability to lead, coach and motivate the Catering and Housekeeping teams.
- Standards, service and quality driven
- Good interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to work on own initiative and meet deadlines
- Excellent organisational skills - methodical in organising workloads and tasks.
- Up-to-Date knowledge of Catering and H&S legislation.
- Passionate, with a hands-on approach and professional persona
- Strong business acumen combined with excellent leadership and liaison skills.
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, multi-task and recall information and facts with good attention to detail.
- Integrity and a highly professional work ethic
- Good judgment, initiative/common sense with the ability to be self-critical.
